Zone of Genius: Strategic systems, collaborative leadership, and yes, spreadsheets!
Lisa Isaac is the founder and principal consultant of Owl Insight HR, where she leads a dynamic team committed to transforming workplace culture through people-first strategy, equity, and operational clarity. With over two decades of experience in HR leadership across sectors, including manufacturing, energy, banking, and Indigenous governance, Lisa brings both big-picture strategy and lived relational insight to her work.
She holds Certified Human Resources Leader (CHRL) and Certified Human Resources Professional (CHRP) designations and is an active member of the Human Resources Professional Association (HRPA), where she mentors future HR leaders. Lisa is bilingual in English and French and has studied at the University of Ottawa and the University of Lethbridge, with academic backgrounds in Management, International Studies, and Social Responsibility.
Her career has taken her from large corporations to community-based organizations, including time in Alberta, Nunavut, Ontario, and her home community of Moose Deer Point First Nation, located on the eastern shores of Georgian Bay.
Lisa is known for her no-nonsense, compassionate leadership style and her ability to help organizations cut through confusion, resolve “people problems,” and build systems that reflect both business needs and community values. She is especially passionate about Truth & Reconciliation in the workplace, ensuring education leads to action, and that Indigenous voices and relationships are embedded in policy, leadership, and culture.
Beyond consulting, Lisa is a visible advocate and role model in the HR and entrepreneurial communities. She continues to volunteer locally, give back to those who’ve supported her, and champion the next generation of changemakers. She is a sought after speaker, trainer, and community facilitator.
Guiding Philosophy: No BS. No games. Be honest and let’s get things done.
Favorite Part of the Job: Leading the team and watching them grow.
Fun Fact: When she’s not leading strategic change or mentoring her team, you’ll find Lisa kayaking serene waters.
