A View from the Centre of it All
As a Project Coordinator at Owl Insight HR, I sit at the centre of every moving piece of our projects. My role is a balancing act between being highly transactional and highly connected. I work very closely with our HR Advisors, Consultants, Senior Consultants, and most importantly, our clients. I see firsthand how projects come together, where the challenges arise, and what truly drives successful outcomes. I coordinate projects and update them across our entire team, managing documentation, processing changes and requests, and tracking timelines, deliverables, and deadlines.
Because I'm involved in many stages of a project, I also get a unique view into how different organizations operate, especially those relying on a single HR person versus those supported by a full team. The difference is clear.
The Reality of a One-Person HR Team
In my Project Coordinator role, I witness every day the power of a team-based HR model and the advantages it brings to our clients.
I see many organizations that rely on a single in-house HR professional-often an HR Generalist, Business Partner, or HR Manager-who is swamped with work. They are responsible for everything from employee relations and compliance to recruitment and policy development. While these professionals are highly skilled, they are often stretched thin. HR is complex and consistently evolving, and it's nearly impossible for one or even two people to be a deep expert in all areas.
From my experience collaborating with clients, this often shows up as delayed projects, competing priorities, and reactive decision-making. Important initiatives get pushed aside simply because there isn't enough capacity.

Then there is me, the Project Coordinator. I help ensure that the right people are engaged at the right time. I coordinate the projects to keep them on track and support our Consultants and Advisors so they can focus on delivering high-quality work for our clients. This means a faster turnaround time, better collaboration, and ultimately stronger results for you, our clients!
I often act as the bridge between our team and yours, keeping communication clear and priorities aligned-a level of coordination that a single HR person within your organization simply doesn't have the capacity to provide.
HR Shouldn't Pause for Vacation
Another advantage is continuity and reliability. When organizations rely on one or two internal HR people, an absence like vacation, illness, or even turnover can create gaps and backlogs. With our team, there is always support available, and knowledge can be shared across the team rather than sitting with just one individual. This reduces risk for our clients and ensures that the progress doesn't stop when one person is unavailable.
